Sensen Museum

The Sensen Museum Micheldorf is located on historic ground, directly at the roots of European industrial history. At the site of the former "Sensenschmiede am Gries", scythes were produced here for over 400 years and exported millions of times all over the world. The industrial pioneer Caspar Zeitlinger led the business to its greatest prosperity in the 19th century. In 1845, he already employed over 400 people, making him one of the largest and most important entrepreneurs in the entire monarchy. A visit to the Sensen Museum is a journey back in time to this bygone era. Authentically preserved buildings and numerous original objects bring to life the everyday lives of Caspar and Josepha Zeitlinger, their family, and their workers, telling of their worries and hardships as well as their dreams and visions.
