Sendersbühne Grinzens

Commitment, team spirit, and exceptional talent characterize the theater life in Grinzens. The Sendersbühne theater association has made a resounding name for itself far beyond the region, not only with highly acclaimed performances and passion plays, but also with demanding stage productions. Despite a very old theater tradition in Grinzens, the Sendersbühne today is actually a rather young theater ensemble with predominantly amateur actors. As the small village of Grinzens was part of the neighboring, theater-loving Axams until the early 19th century, it was natural that after its separation in 1811, theater would continue to play a major role in the now independent community. Performances in so-called "Spielthennen" (play barns) were given in farmhouses and later also in the village inn. The Kemater Alm (mountain pasture) or the Adolf Pichler Hütte in the Senderstal were also chosen as popular venues. In 1996, the Sendersbühne was re-established on the initiative of Leo Walder, Günther Kreidl, Sieghard Larl, and several theater enthusiasts from Grinzens. However, the Sendersbühne has not yet fully settled down, but precisely because of this, it consistently shines with professional productions, brilliant acting performances, and always surprises with extraordinary (open-air) venues.
