The picturesque Ort Castle, situated on a tiny island in Lake Traunsee, is not only one of the oldest buildings in the Salzkammergut, but also has exciting stories to tell: for example, the legend of the giant Erla, who is said to have built the castle out of love for the Traunsee mermaid Blondchen. And from the first historically mentioned owner, Knight Hartneid von Ort, to the cruel Count Herbestorff, to the Habsburg Archduke Johann Nepomuk Salvator, many a dazzling personality has resided here. As have the actors of the German-Austrian television series "Schlosshotel Orth": For eight years, from 1996 to 2004, people lived, loved, married and, above all, filmed here. To this day, the series is a strong crowd-puller and attracts numerous visitors to Seeschloss Ort every year. This was made possible by the municipality of Gmunden, which has owned Seeschloss Ort again since 1995 and has since made it available to the public as a museum, an event venue, and a popular wedding location. The restaurant "Orther Stub'n" provides the necessary culinary catering. Embark on a unique tour through one of the most fascinating buildings in the Salzkammergut! Tower tours: Reservations are possible from July directly at Ort Castle at the souvenir cash desk or by phone at +43 676 88 79 45 01.
