The Bartlhaus in Pettenbach is the only Austrian museum dedicated to the art of writing in its various forms. Changing exhibitions showcase works by Austrian and international calligraphy artists and thematic compilations of ex-libris. Permanent exhibitions invite visitors to get to know the work of the house's founding fathers. The attached print workshop houses unique printing presses and printing machines, all fully functional and in operation during printing demonstrations. The local history museum of Pettenbach is also located in the Bartlhaus. Calligraphy courses are regularly held in the writing room, the Scriptorium. How to get to the Bartlhaus in Pettenbach in the Almtal: We recommend traveling by public transport! By train: From Wels station with the Almtalbahn (line 153) in the direction of Grünau im Almtal to Pettenbach station, numerous connections from Wels station to the main traffic trains on the Westbahn line (line 101) to Linz/Vienna or Salzburg and to Passau (line 150). The station is only a 5-minute walk away! By bus: OÖVV bus lines 456 Kirchdorf/Kr. - Steinbach am Ziehberg - Pettenbach and 481 Kirchdorf/Kr. - Inzersdorf - Pettenbach - Lederau - Eggenberg - Vorchdorf, each stop Pettenbach Bahnhofstraße. With the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 70 coming from Vorchdorf or Scharnstein, please call the Taxi Zentrale at 050-422 422 at least 1 hour in advance or order online at www.salzkammergutshuttle.at. Bike & Hike, arrival by bicycle: Coming from Wels or Linz on the R 11 Almtalradweg via Pettenbach to Viechtwang. Or via the R 4 Traunradweg or R6 Römerradweg, or coming from Passau via Vöcklabruck and Schwanenstadt to Lambach, over the Traunkraftwerk Lambach and to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting in the direction of Vorchdorf Einsiedling. Continue via the cycle connection briefly onto the R 13 Traunviertlerradweg to the R 11 Almtalradweg to Pettenbach. Also the cycle connection on the Traunvierteltour from Gmunden via St. Konrad and Scharnstein to Pettenbach. - Use the signage of the everyday cycle paths from the state cycle paths to the town center.
