Schloss Trautenfels - Universalmuseum Joanneum

The landscape museum in Trautenfels Castle presents the cultural and natural history of the Styrian Ennstal and Ausseerland in 13 kaleidoscopically arranged rooms. In 1261, a castle named Neuhaus was mentioned for the first time. In the 17th century, the building was redesigned in the Baroque style by Count Siegmund Friedrich von Trauttmannsdorff. The high-quality frescoes were created by Carpoforo Tencalla, and the stucco work by Alessandro Sereni. Since the general renovation in 1992, modern architectural elements amidst the historic building fabric have been surprising.
