Photo: Schloss NeuhausSt. Martin i. Mühlkreis, Upper Austria
Built in the 12th century as a hunting lodge for the Bishops of Passau, expanded into a fortress by the Schaunbergers in the 14th century. Today, Schloss Neuhaus towers majestically over the Danube. The castle has been owned by the Plappart family since 1918 and is therefore not accessible to the public. However, even a walk around the castle, whose complex reaches a total length of about 300 m, lets romantics dream of robber knights and noblewomen!
