Schloss Gayenhofen

Bludenz, Vorarlberg

burgführung

The Bludenz District Administration has been housed in Gayenhofen Castle since the political administrative authorities were established in 1868. From 1929 to autumn 1963, however, it had another building at its disposal. In 1956, when many Hungarian refugees streamed into the country, it served as accommodation for asylum seekers. In 1959, the city of Bludenz then transferred the castle, which had been in its possession since 1937, to the province of Vorarlberg free of charge, with the condition that it be used as an office building for the district administration. Subsequently, the listed building was renovated over a period of approximately three years. On October 26, 1963, the current office building of the Bludenz District Administration was finally officially handed over to its intended purpose. NOTE: The district administration can only be viewed from the outside, as it is an authority. A viewing of the interior is therefore unfortunately not possible.
