Schloss Aichberg rises above the village of Eichberg and the gentle hills of Eastern Styria. It appears fortress-like and somewhat intimidating. The castle owner, Cajetan Gril du Guern, suggests this is not intentional. During renovation work, it was revealed that this must have been the original facade color. Thus, anthracite gray was likely the fashionable color for castles in the 17th century. Because he did not want to replace the many rotten Baroque doors, he simply asked artists to design them. Schloss Aichberg is a member of the Schlossstraße (castle road).
