Schiefe Kapelle

In the segmental arch niche there is a picture of Mary, in front of it a new wrought-iron grate; a year 1847 is no longer present. The name "Linde zur schiefen Kapelle" (Linden tree at the crooked chapel) comes from the fact that the chapel, standing next to the approximately 250-year-old linden tree, was lifted on one side by the increasingly strong roots. The linden tree is a natural monument and can be reached via the Reuterhügel farm track. The trunk circumference is about 400 cm, the crown diameter 11 m, and the height around 22 m. In 2002, the linden tree was freed from dry branches and mistletoe by the Bad Mühllacken fire brigade as part of an exercise, with the help of a lift. The chapel formerly belonged to Oberpenninger, Wolkerstorfer, now Rammerstorfer, and came into the possession of the house Reuterhügel 6, the former "Abbdeckerhaus" (knacker's house), through land sale. A renderer of animal carcasses practiced his trade there until after World War II. During a visitation of Lacken, Bishop Maximilian Aichern also visited the Schiefe Kapelle. He was completely enthusiastic about it, its surroundings, and the magnificent view. In 2013, the mighty linden tree was felled and in 2014 replaced by a new one by the market town of Feldkirchen.
