Sagenweg der Goldfröschlein An enjoyable themed trail about the legend of the Gold Frogs - ideal for the whole family. This stroller-friendly themed trail starts in St. Georgen at the Museum for Legends and Fairy Tales, with the starting point of the circular route being flexible. (free parking available) The route extends along a wide forest path on the hillside towards Bruck. Here, there is a great view of the surrounding mountain landscape. From this point, the path is paved and descends slightly into the valley. The paved path runs approximately 2 km to Gries. Behind the bakery, there is the entrance to the 500-meter-long gravel path. At the end of this path, there is a further ascent of about 750 meters through the village of St. Georgen back to the starting point. Along the Gold Frogs Legend Trail, there are various stations where visitors can learn more about the legend. Several rest areas and benches invite visitors to linger. TIP: This circular route is also suitable for strollers! The Legend of the Gold Frogs At Hundstein, over 2,000 meters high, there is the Hundsteinsee. In spring, when the snow melts, many frogs emerge from the lake. These are Gold Frogs, because each of them carries a small gold piece in its mouth. If you come at the right time, you might catch a Gold Frog. Unfortunately, no one has succeeded so far in catching a frog and grabbing the gold. Try your luck – maybe you'll be lucky. Legend retold by Valentina Egger and Magdalena Kendlbacher (as part of the summer holiday program in 2018 with Iris Unterhofer).
