Ruine Seisenburg

The castle was owned by the Dukes of Austria in 1518 and was subsequently sold several times. From 1619, the medieval castle was owned by Count Engel zu Wagrein, who converted it into a Renaissance castle in the 17th century. Around 1940, costly renovation work would have been necessary, but this was not carried out and so the building fell into disrepair. Today, only a few wall remains of this once proud castle can be seen. Two years ago, some Pettenbach residents began restoring the dilapidated walls. Through this unpaid work, the beautiful excursion destination is to be preserved for several more decades.
