Ruhegebiet Stubaier Alpen

A special type of protected area in Tyrol are Ruhegebiete (quiet areas). They are particularly suitable for recreation in the great outdoors because there are no noise-generating businesses, no cable cars for passenger transport, and no roads with public traffic. The Ruhegebiet Stubaier Alpen, with its interesting peaks, glaciers, and high-alpine lakes in the area of St. Sigmund, guarantees the preservation of the wild and pristine mountain world and the unique high-alpine landscape. The predominant part of the Ruhegebiet Stubaier Alpen lies above the alpine tree line. Numerous hiking trails and paths lead through the area, to huts (Westfalenhaus and Pforzheimer Hütte) and peaks. From the Sellraintal, you can reach the Ruhegebiet Stubaier Alpen through the Kraspestal, the Gleirschtal, the Lüsens, and the Fotscher Tal.
