Richtbergtaferl

Richtberg-Taferl is a popular pilgrimage site located on the 1047-meter-high Richtberg in Reindlmühl. The 3-day spiritual hiking trail JOSEFWEG leads along both Stations of the Cross to the spring and the Richtberg-Taferl Chapel. The "Taferl", as it is called by the local population, is primarily visited by people who are in emotional and physical distress and hope and pray for a turning point. The many votive tablets in the chapel bear witness to the frequent success of these prayers. Tradition has it that a female corpse was found on the wooded plateau of the Richtberg. A Pietà was then attached to a spruce tree, which soon attracted praying people. When, in 1860, after a terrible storm, only the tree with the relief image remained standing, legend says, this was perceived as divine guidance, and a chapel was built to protect the image.
