Rauchhaus "Mühlgrub"

In 2010, the Rauchhaus became a "place of happiness", thanks to its particularly harmonious location and the special atmosphere in the house. Places of happiness are so-called power places, which can be found throughout the Salzkammergut. The Rauchhaus received its name because the smoke from the open hearth located in the entrance area exits without a chimney. This gave the house its characteristic black color (soot residue). Above the hearth is a "fire hat" to prevent sparks, and the smoke exits through the roof. On the south side of the hallway is the parlor with a tiled stove, which is tiled with the typical green pot tiles. The oven with a water tank, which provided hot water, and the baking oven (e.g., for "Rohrnudeln") are heated by the open fireplace in the hallway. The dining table with the Hergottswinkel (niche with a crucifix) completes the furnishings of the parlor. Behind the parlor is a chamber with a staircase to the upper floor. These two rooms are now used for cozy evenings, where typical dishes, prepared over an open fire, are served (Kasnock´n, Pofesen,...). The "Advent in the Rauchhaus" with music and readings is one of these events. Furthermore, the hayloft has been converted into an event room. Events such as Hoamatgfü, KunstKulturKulinarik, readings, yodeling workshops, and various other events take place there. It is also possible to rent the Rauchhaus privately.
