Raritäten aus der Film- & Tonwelt

Mureck, Styria

ausstellungmuseumstour

Born in 1954 and interested in technology from childhood to the present day. With the acquisition of a cassette recorder in 1969, the passion for collecting and the love for sound recording devices began. In 1973, the next step followed. A Philips reel-to-reel tape recorder, a Lenco record player, and a Uher mixing console were purchased. In 1986, the first camcorder, in the form of a portable VHS recorder and a separate tube camera, came into my possession. In 1988 and 1989, the first real camcorders with Video 8 and Hi 8 systems from Sony were acquired. With the introduction of camcorders, Super 8 film died out, and the first collector's items, Super 8 cameras, projectors, and various editing devices, came into my possession. After the advent of digital technology, various analog camcorders and cassette recorders were added. In 2014, a lucky coincidence provided the opportunity to obtain a room in the so-called Schützhaus in Mureck for an exhibition of the accumulated rarities. After the opening at the Mureck town festival in September 2014, the collection has been continuously supplemented and expanded. Devices from the beginning of sound recording in 1877 to the present day, and exhibits from the film world, from the Laterna Magica to the most modern camcorder, are now on display.
