Raiffeisen-Jubiläumswarte Eisenstadt

A wooden observation tower with several platforms on different levels stood at this location since 1957, but it had to be closed for safety reasons and eventually demolished. Just one year later, in 2012, the new observation tower, also built of wood, was erected at the same spot. A staircase leads to the covered observation platform. On the intermediate landings, small windows allow for initial panoramic views, and three balconies at different heights and in different cardinal directions were also installed. The uppermost platform at a height of 12 m rewards the ascent with wonderful views of Lake Neusiedl and across the Wulka plain to Hungary. The forest clearing where this observation tower stands is known in Eisenstadt as "Parapluiewiese". Named after a historic pavilion – the Parapluie – which stood here in 1928 and was a popular excursion destination. Even today, the Parapluiewiese invites visitors to relax or picnic in the middle of the forest.
