This column is a stonemasonry work dated to the beginning of the 16th century. A so-called "Patriarchal Cross" is depicted in two niches. The statement of the cross is that this cross shape only appeared in those places where the Augustinian friars ran a "Heilig Geist Spital (Holy Spirit Hospital)" – just like in Rattenberg. Travelers at that time could already recognize from the column in front of the city that there was a Heilig Geist Spital with a church and the Augustinian order, which cared for and nursed people. In 1767, the Rattenberg brewer Nikolaus Artzpeck had the pillar renovated and his initials N: A.P. and the year 1767 carved into it. In the course of the railway construction in 1855, the column had to be moved and has since stood in front of the Kremerstadl again at a crossroads.
