Völs, Tyrol
In the north of the old village center, a new church center for the community of Völs was created in 1966/67 by architect Josef Lackner. The building is well thought out and also worth a visit from an architectural perspective: The cubature, supported by a strict plastic form, is consistently transferred from the interior to the exterior. The assignment to functional areas inside corresponds to the structuring of the architecturally deformed walls outside. Plastic structures are evident in the furnishings designed by Josef Lackner. These include the altar table, ambo, priest's seat, and the benches that frame the altar podium. In 1987, Ernst Trawöger's large panel painting of the Stations of the Cross was brought into the house of worship. Particularly worth seeing during Advent and Christmas is the large nativity scene, which was built in the oriental style by the local association of nativity scene friends in 1997 in over 1000 hours of work.
