Privatmuseum Theißenegg

Visits by appointment only!The mountain village of Theissenegg belongs to the municipality of Wolfsberg and is located at an altitude of 1,121 m, approx. 12 km north of the district capital. Chronicle From 1938 to 1940, a new school building was constructed in Theissenegg, providing space for a three-class school. However, the school had to close in 2008 due to insufficient student numbers and now serves as a club house for local cultural associations. Since 2020, the municipality of Wolfsberg has provided Sonja and Josef Dohr with premises to run a museum in Theissenegg. At the beginning of 2021, a classroom on the first floor was converted into a museum and was able to open on June 25, 2021. The MuseumThe private museum was established by the couple Sonja and Josef Dohr in 2021 and is continuously supplemented and rounded out with new exhibits. It all began with the great passion of the two Theissenegg residents to collect old, beautiful objects and thus save them from destruction. The collections became increasingly extensive and eventually led to space problems in their private home. After the special exhibition "100 Years of the Carinthian Plebiscite" in 2020 in the Stadtgalerie in Wolfsberg, which was organized by Josef Dohr, the idea finally arose to permanently display the collected exhibits. The plan matured to use the former school building for this purpose. This was immediately approved by the former mayor of the municipality of Wolfsberg, Hans Peter Schlagholz. With Mayor Hannes Primus, the project was implemented, and thus a museum was created on the upper floor of the former elementary school in Theissenegg, where many exhibits can be viewed.
