Pongauer Dom

Parish church in honor of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist. This two-towered parish church with Gothic woodwork is the landmark of Sankt Johann. It was first mentioned in documents in 924. After the market fire of 1855, the church was rebuilt from the ground up (1855-1861). The neo-Gothic altars house numerous late Gothic figures. The commanding location above the Salzach Valley and the majestic interior make this building one of the main works of ecclesiastical architecture.
