PistorkaserneThe so-called Pistorkaserne at Hauptplatz 30 houses frescoes by Johannes Aquilas in the cellar of the backyard. The artist from Radkersburg is one of the earliest art-historically tangible names in Central Europe.His work is evidenced by the frescoes in the churches of Velemér (H), Turnisce (SLO), Martjanci (SLO) and Fürstenfeld (A).The barrel-vaulted room was once entirely adorned with frescoes.On the north wall, scenes from the legend of Pyramos and Thisbe can be recognized, among others; on the opposite wall, the siege of a city and a battle are visible.The key to this room is available at the tourist information office.
