In the millennia-old settlement on the Hemmaberg / Globasnitz, we find significant traces of European past, such as the pre-Celtic deity Iouenat, who gave the Roman settlement Iuenna and the Jauntal its name. The finds from the pilgrimage site "Hemmaberg" bear witness to the everyday life of pilgrims, from food, jewelry, and dishes to the veneration of saints. They now span a period of 5,500 years. The early Christian pilgrimage sanctuary from the Migration Period (400–600 AD) and the Ostrogothic cemetery represent extraordinary discoveries for the entire Alpine-Adriatic region.In 2025, the Pilgermuseum Globasnitz/Globasnica became part of the kärnten.museum association and thus an outpost of the Landesmuseum für Kärnten.
