The first calls for a new church building in the mid-19th century only materialized in 1911 with the founding of a church building association, which, however, lost the money it had collected through war bonds during World War I. In 1924, the association was re-established, diligently collected funds, and on December 13, 1931, the contract was awarded to architect Otto Linder from Munich. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 3, 1932, and the solemn inauguration by Bishop Waitz on October 14, 1934.
