Pfarrkirche "Zum Heiligen Ägidius"

Pfarrkirche "Zum Heiligen Ägidius"

Reith, Tyrol

The previously Romanesque parish church of Reith was consecrated to Saints Aegidius and Sylvester in 1188. In the 15th century, the nave was extended in the High Gothic architectural style. In 1727, the new building in Gothic-Baroque style was constructed, and the church pews were built around 1732. Particularly impressive is the painted glory of Saints Aegidius, Sylvester, and Sebastian in the choir gallery. This ceiling fresco is considered an early work by the famous Baroque painter Simon Faistenberger. Reith was elevated to a parish in 1891. Services: last Saturday of the month 7:00 PM, Sunday 8:30 AM.
