Pfarrkirche und Loretokapelle Pfarrkirchen

Parish Church: Due to its location, size, and furnishings, the parish church was a visible sign of the rising dominion of the Passau diocese. The current church building dates from the first half of the 13th century. This late Romanesque structure was expanded in the Gothic style in the 15th century. In 1697, the church was redesigned in the Baroque style by the Italian artists Giovanni Carlone and the stucco artist Giovanni Batista Carlone. The furnishings were created exclusively by local masters in the period up to 1735. The rich fresco painting was painted over and forgotten over time. In 1992, the frescoes were discovered and uncovered. Guided tours for groups only by prior arrangement. Loreto Chapel: The Loreto Chapel is located next to the parish church. It was copied after the "Flying House" of Loreto in Italy. Even beam holes and wall cracks were intended to correspond as precisely as possible to the original. The heart of the Loreto Chapel is the black Madonna located on the back wall. Except for a few changes, the chapel has been preserved quite faithfully to the original. From Germany: Autobahn A3 to Passau Nord. On the B 388 towards Wegscheid to the turn-off to Oberkappel (border). From Oberkappel (intersection) follow signs to Pfarrkirchen. Train: From Austria: Mühlkreisbahn to Neufelden station, from there by taxi (Heinzl company in Pfarrkirchen) to Pfarrkirchen. From Germany: Passau station, from there by taxi (Heinzl company in Pfarrkirchen) to Pfarrkirchen. Plane: Linz/Hörsching Airport. From there by taxi (Heinzl company in Pfarrkirchen) to Pfarrkirchen. Boat: On the Danube to the landing stage in Niederranna. From there by taxi (Heinzl company in Pfarrkirchen) to Pfarrkirchen.
