The exact age of the church cannot be determined, but it is certain that it already existed in the 12th century, because a St. Veits-Kirche in Ternberg is mentioned in the deed of gift from Otakar II to Garsten Abbey. In 1557, the church was extended to its current height. The tower dates from 1752. The high altar is from 1688 by the sculptor Marian Rittinger. The interior renovation of the church was designed by the artist Leo Zogmayer. In 2009, for its 700th anniversary, the newly renovated church was consecrated by Bishop Aichern.
