Pfarrkirche Straden

"Henricus de Merin" was mentioned in 1188 as the first pastor of Straden in a document from the Archbishop of Salzburg. The oldest church complex in Straden was destroyed by a fire around 1460. Between 1480 and 1525, the parish church was rebuilt in the Gothic style. The "Himmelsbergerin", a statue of Mary with child, dates from this period. The founding of the Sebastian Brotherhood in 1517 is likely connected to the construction or renovation of the double church St. Sebastian/Sorrowful Mother of God, located south of the parish church.Church tours for groups of 10 or more by prior arrangement.
