Pfarrkirche St. Vitus

The construction of the Gothic parish church dates back to 1324. A keystone from 1490 probably indicates the completion of the current house of worship. In 1399, the parish of Kreuzen was incorporated into Waldhausen Abbey. In 1451, the parish of Kreuzen, along with Grein and Simonsfeld, was ceded to the sovereign. Subsequently, the dominion of Sachsen Coburg-Gotha remained the patron of the parish of Kreuzen until 1968: On November 28, 1968, a declaration of renunciation was signed between the dominion of Kreuzen and the diocese, and finally a decree on April 4, 1974. Since then, Bad Kreuzen has been a parish of free episcopal conferral. The outer walls are supported by beautiful, strong buttresses. Large pointed arch windows on the south side let plenty of light into the interior. The lower, Gothic part of the tower was raised in the Baroque period and completed with a pointed spire in modern times. The delicately light star vault of the two-aisled church hall is supported by two pillars. Under the organ loft, the space is divided into three aisles. Through a mighty pointed arch triumphal arch, one looks into the priest's choir.
