Pfarrkirche St. Martin im Mühlkreis

The parish was first mentioned in 1242 and has been looked after by the Augustinian Canons from St. Florian since 1580. The church was originally built around 1150 in the Romanesque style. After its destruction, it was rebuilt around 1320 as a High Gothic church and expanded around 1400 into a two-aisled hall church. Baroque alterations followed in the 18th century. In 1978/79, the church interior was redesigned and the altar was moved to the center of the nave. In 2013, the altar area was redesigned again. The new altar was created by the artist Gabriela Berger from a granite block and symbolizes the sharing of St. Martin. Among the oldest treasures are six late medieval stained glass windows from between 1380 and 1410 with depictions of saints and founders, as well as the baptismal font made of local Plöckinger granite, created around 1460.
