Services on the rock. The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Martin in Riegersburg stands on the right at the beginning of the ascent path to Riegersburg Castle. Hardly any other church can literally be described as a house on the rock in the sense of Jesus, as it was built from basalt tuff quarried on site. The parish church presents itself as a special jewel that has grown organically over centuries. The church itself was built in two stages in the late Gothic style, and the furnishings mainly date from the Baroque and Renaissance periods.
