Pfarrkirche Puch bei Weiz

The oldest part of this church, the lower tower section from 1466, formed the basis for the early Baroque church building, which was completed in 1668 and altered in 1906 in the entrance area and facade design. The four-part peal consists of three bronze bells from 1989, created by Grassmayr in Innsbruck, as well as a bell cast in 1955 in St. Florian near Linz. The centerpiece of the simple interior is the high altar from 1768, created by the Graz sculptor Jakob Payer. The altarpiece shows the patron saint St. Oswald, who, as the patron of livestock, watches over a herd of animals; in the background, the East Styrian landscape with the Kulm can be seen. Above it hovers the Trinity group, flanked by the statues of Saints Sebastian, Donatus (left) as well as Florian and Achatius. A new instrument has been housed in the organ case from 1906 since 2003, a stylistic copy of an Italian organ after Gaetano Callido, built in the workshop of Francesco Zanin.
