Mayrhofen, Tyrol
A small church stood in Mayrhofen as early as the 14th century, perhaps even earlier. In any case, it is known that a fire destroyed the small church at the end of the 14th century. On Sundays and holidays, assistant priests came from the parish of Zell to hold services there. The name "Maierhof" first appears in documents in 1309. The oldest parishes in the Zillertal are Zell and Fügen; since Boniface (around 740), the Ziller has been the border between the Archdioceses of Salzburg and the Diocese of Brixen (today the Diocese of Innsbruck).
