Silz, Tyrol
The parish church with cemetery, built in Neo-Romanesque style, is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul. The mighty Nazarene building was newly constructed in the mid-19th century and oriented to the south. The parish of Silz was already mentioned in documents in 1233. The church houses the largest bell in the Oberinntal, which was cast by the Oberascher bell foundry in 1955. The bell weighs 4,061 kilograms. Due to its deep sound, the bell is popularly called the "Pummerin of the Oberinntal" (in reference to the famous bell in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna). Together with four other bells from the Grassmayr bell foundry in Innsbruck, it forms the imposing carillon of the Silz parish church.
