Archbishop Hieronymus Graf Colloredo had the parish church of Hintersee built in 1785. It is consecrated to Saint Leonhard and Saint Georg. The most famous priest was Joseph Mohr (poet of the song Silent Night, Holy Night - Joseph Mohr served the parish of Hintersee for almost 10 years.
