Pfarrkirche Haus im Ennstal

The parish church of St. John the Baptist was built between 1750 and 1753 by the Kitzbühel master builder Cassian Singer. The original Romanesque church was destroyed in a fire in 1750, along with most of the town. The artistic design of the church's altars was carried out by the Judenburg sculptor Balthasar Prandstätter and his collaborators. The pulpit was created by an unnamed, deaf-mute sculptor from Salzburg. Parts of the furnishings also come from Johann Martin Schmidt, the "Kremser Schmidt". Beneath the main building is a crypt, which was filled with the remains of the fire ruins. The interior of the church was last renovated in an exemplary manner in 1999. The rectory, dating back to the 15th century at its core, was rebuilt after the fire catastrophe of 1750. The deanery museum is located in the attached tithe granary of the parish.
