Pfarrkirche Assach

On May 1, 1860, Assach was elevated to an independent parish. Our parish church is dedicated to St. Nicholas. Assach was located at the starting point of a former pack trail that led over the mountains to Hallstatt. This explains the patronage of St. Nicholas, as St. Nicholas was considered the patron saint of merchants and carters in times past.
