Parish and Pilgrimage Church Breitenfeld an der Rittschein Parish Church "To the Savior of the World"Initially, it was the horrors of the plague that led many pilgrims to Breitenfeld an der Rittschein; today, people are invited to call upon the Savior of the World for help in the diverse distresses of our time and to let themselves be touched by the baroque beauty of the church near Riegersburg. Impressive and characteristic of the importance of the pilgrimage are the two-story high altar with ambulatory portals, filling the entire choir apse, and the mighty pulpit, whose design is derived from Matthias Steinl's famous Vorau pulpit. The central painting of the main altar with Christ the Redeemer, surrounded by figures of the twelve apostles, is by Simon Echter and was painted in 1645 for the originally smaller church. Furthermore, there are four side altars in the church: the Cross Altar and the Marian Altar with an Immaculate Conception depiction, the Anthony Altar, and the Altar with Francis Xavier.
