Gorge-like hikes, steep gradients and numerous places of power can be found in the Pesenbachtal Nature Reserve. As part of the Upper Austrian main hiking trail of the Donausteig, there are great natural phenomena to discover such as the blue alley, springs and pools, cyclopean rock formations, and the landmark of the Pesenbachtal, the "Kerzenstein".The blue alley is a channel about one meter wide with a striking blue-black coloration, caused by a hornblende-needle-porphyrite vein. The water from a slightly radioactive spring, the Brunoquelle, located in the Pesenbachtal, is used in the Curhaus Bad Mühllacken. On the south-facing slopes, drought-loving trees such as hornbeam and Scots pine thrive. With a bit of luck, you might encounter the Aesculapian snake or the emerald lizard, which can be found on the high edge of the steeply cut valley on rocky south-facing slopes.Arrival by car: Please park exclusively before the village entrance of Bad Mühllacken at the designated, free visitor parking lot at the roundabout!
