The Wasserloch mystery is located near Palfau. A gorge hike with waterfalls, beautiful views and the opportunity for culinary rewards. It is called a "mystery" because a siphon lake empties into the depths of the gorge at irregular and unpredictable intervals. The gorge hike starts with a suspension bridge over the emerald green Salza. If you dare to look down, you will see the colorful helmets of kayakers and rafting groups. You continue walking and soon you are drawn into the gorge itself. Thanks to the climbing facility made of solid wood, the ascent to the Wasserloch is also manageable for families and an experience. Bathed in all waters During this excursion, the beloved water is a constant companion. First, the colorful Salza enchants, then the five roaring waterfalls along the way inspire (one of them with a remarkable 37 meters drop height). Finally, you stand in front of the unpredictable Wasserloch mystery, a karst phenomenon that poses many riddles. Where does the water come from and when will it come again? Hunger! After the Wasserlochklamm experience, you have earned a refreshment, and this is available at the Wasserlochschenke. There you can bite into baked potatoes or treat yourself to a waffle.
