The Austrian Jewish Museum was very fortunate to be able to set up in a historic building in the former Judengasse of Eisenstadt. It is thus located in a place where a renowned Jewish community was settled for more than 250 years. The museum was founded as early as 1972 as the first Jewish museum in Austria after 1945. Visitors can not only visit the former private synagogue and the museum's collections, but also gain an impression of the old Jewish houses and the two Jewish cemeteries. The Austrian Jewish Museum is open for individual visitors from May to October, and for groups (10 people or more, as well as school groups) by prior arrangement all year round. ATTENTION! The museum is closed on Jewish holidays (22.5., 13.9., 21.9., 27.9., 4.10.2026).
