Oberalmer Marterlweg

Oberalmer Marterlweg

Oberalm, Salzburg

bergtourwandern

The Marterlweg (hiking trail No. 46 on the Tennengau hiking map) runs along a well-established, very popular trail towards Wiestal and passes many crossroads, so-called "Marterl" (small wayside shrines) and small chapels. All these lovingly maintained cultural monuments are located at special spots and tell their small stories, mostly of gratitude or misfortune in the family. Starting point is the Café Lohmaier, located on the Halleiner Landesstraße, which is easily accessible by bus (No. 160, stop Haunsperg) or car. From here, we go from the "Heiligen Kreuz" past the Bartwirtstraße and the Pröllhofstraße to the "Jellkreuz" - parallel to the main road - then cross the Halleiner Landesstraße and continue into the Kirchenstraße to the "Christophorus Bildstock". Then, a short return, left under the highway to the Almerbergweg and the "Hellabründlkreuz", from there further to the old Wiestalstraße to the Bildstock at "Herberg-Einfang" and on to the Wiestalkapelle to the "Hl. Sebastian". Passing the Gasthaus Bischof (a place to stop for refreshments), continue to the "Rauscherkreuz", then turn right over the Wiesenweg to the "Stoandlkapelle". The trail then leads back to the Gasthof Bischof and the Wiestalkapelle, then right up the steep "Reichenweg" and afterwards over the "Almerberg" back into the town center. Walking time approx. 3 hours round trip. Getting there to the starting point: Café Lohmaier on the Halleiner Landesstraße, large parking lot in front Bus 160, stop Haunsperg S-Bahn, stops Oberalm Zentrum or Hallein Trail length: 13 km Elevation gain: 200 m Difficulty level: easy Refreshment options: all inns and cafes in the town center, Hammerwirt and Gasthof Bischof
