Nothklamm

Landl, Styria

naturführung

As the cherry on top of the gorge cake, there is also the Kraushöhle to visit. Rock formations and completely natural water features complete the short hike. There, one walks along 700-meter-long footbridges – almost floating – ever deeper into the gorge. And this in a pleasant climate – especially in summer. One should not walk too quickly, because there is so much to discover. Above, the stone formations, below, the bubbling water, and between one's feet, fossils of sea snails and mussels. One needs an eye for detail: inconspicuous lichens become true wonders of nature and baby caves become small discoveries. The water rushes past at high speed and makes the entire gorge vibrate. Not just for emergencies (Noth) Stones in all colors and shapes and always the wild rushing of the water in one's ear. It certainly won't get boring. There are even chamois who walk the Nothklamm every day of the year and always discover new favorite spots for themselves. In winter, avalanches go off; in summer, one sees their traces when walking the 700m long wooden path, with a new formation lurking behind every rock. Wildly romantic, some say, incredibly exciting, others say. Because depending on whether one walks through with heart or mind, the impression changes.
