Nölblinger Wasserfall

The short access path from the small village of Nölbling ensures that the waterfall of the same name is visited by many holiday guests. After just 25 minutes of invigorating hiking, you reach a narrow viewing position opposite the fall, from which the mighty, arched drop of the Nölblingbach stream shows itself from its best side. Clear footpaths lead down to the shimmering green plunge pool, whose outflow area introduces a blocked steep zone that continues until the Nölblingbach stream enters the wide depression of the Gailtal valley. Just above the level of the plunge pool, a jet of water breaks out of the rocks, enriching the approximately 40-meter-high fall and its romantic surroundings with an additional nuance. Whether this white streak originates from a spring or is simply a stray branch of the large waterfall cannot be clarified from the viewer's perspective. To do so, one would have to cross the plunge pool or the flowing wild stream and climb a rock opposite the jet. A second, higher waterfall can be reached after a climb that is not difficult but exposed, over partly overgrown, approximately 60-degree steep rock slabs that rise above the first viewpoint. From Nölbling, you can reach the Zollnersee Hütte via a marked path in an ascent of about four hours.
