A special feature, in addition to the hardwood riparian forests, are the partly very large gravel areas on the banks of the Alm, which repeatedly invite children and adults to linger. THE MOOR - What exactly is moor? It is distinguished by its deposit site into raised bogs and low or fens. The fen cake, like the Neydhartinger Moor, is formed by the accumulation of plant remains that do not completely decompose, as the soil organisms are inhibited in their vitality under the prevailing very wet conditions and lack of oxygen. The healing or therapeutic effect of moor was already recognized in 1364. The "Almauen" nature reserve and the moor protection area are of considerable size and are ideal for hiking and exploring. The range of well-signposted hiking trails includes both shorter routes that are easy to manage for wheelchair users and parents with small children, as well as more challenging paths for athletes and nature lovers.
