Natur- und Geopark Steirische Eisenwurzen

A nature park is there to uphold natural treasures, and the sustainable use of the cultural landscapes shaped over centuries is the central theme. Nature park specialty partners produce delicacies from traditional orchards, herb gardens, and more. The nature park innkeepers take these specialties and conjure up regional delicacies from them, and otherwise, it's "protecting through using." This also works well with nature in the forest and meadow, as well as with the geology in the Geopark. Embedded in the Styrian Eisenwurzen is the GeoDorf Gams. This and the geological occurrences around it are decisive for UNESCO taking over the patronage for this region. As the only Geopark in Styria, the Styrian Eisenwurzen is a real unique specimen. Geopark, by the way, is not a legally enshrined protection category, but a predicate for areas that have a rich geological heritage and a good strategy for sustainable development.
