Tadten is embedded in a unique natural landscape on the edge of the fascinating Waasen–Hanság area, which extends over Austrian and Hungarian territory. This cross-border natural paradise is now one of the most important breeding and retreat areas for rare bird species in Central Europe and delights nature lovers as well as passionate ornithologists. Particularly impressive is the great bustard – the largest flying bird species in Europe – whose most important breeding ground here is under strict nature protection. In addition, numerous rare species such as the Montagu's harrier, spotted crake, Eurasian curlew, common snipe, short-eared owl, and the last Austrian lowland population of the whinchat can be discovered. In the National Park Info Room, visitors gain exciting insights into the fascinating bird world and the valuable habitats of this region. Cyclists also get their money's worth in Tadten: The Hanság Cycle Path and the National Park Cycle Path lead directly through the village and past the National Park Info Room – ideal for experiencing the impressive nature actively and up close.
