Nationalpark-Ausstellung "Erlebnis Zirbe"

St. Jakob i. D., which can count the Oberhauser Zirbenwald, the largest contiguous stone pine forest in the Eastern Alps, as part of its territory, literally allows visitors to breathe a sigh of relief thanks to the alpine healing climate. The very slow-growing stone pine can live up to 1,000 years, reach a diameter of up to two meters and a height of just over 20 meters. Special schnapps and liqueurs are made from its cones. Woodcarvers in the region use almost exclusively the soft stone pine wood for their artworks. Visitors can learn this and much more about the tree, which belongs to the pine family, in the free exhibition "Erlebnis Zirbe" in the Handelshaus, in the center of St. Jakob i. D..
