Museumsfriedhof "Lustiger Friedhof"

Kramsach, Tyrol

ausstellungmuseumstour

A cemetery without dead people? In this "cemetery without dead people", visitors can – with a smile turning into liberating laughter – reflect on the conciliatory nature of becoming and passing away. Over 100 grave crosses from five centuries, some with curious inscriptions, can be found at the Museumsfriedhof Tirol in Kramsach. However, no one is buried here. The crosses come from the collection of master stonemason and Sagzahnschmied Hans Guggenberger. After decades of collecting in North Tyrol, South Tyrol, Salzburg, and Bavaria by the master generations Guggenberger – Sagzahn Kunstschmiede – this museum cemetery was painstakingly created in 1965 and has been continuously expanded since then. In addition to ornaments of venerable blacksmith art from five centuries, the curious museum section features historically documented wayside shrine and grave sayings with earthy-hearty life wisdom as testimonies to the original folk humor in the Alpine region. The world's most monumental Dance of Death cycle, a World Peace Cross, the World Peace Bells, and a meditation grotto distinguish this globally unique open-air museum. The museum is accessible by Regiobus 603 - Stop: Hagau Einberger Admission: Maintenance contribution € 4.00/per person.
