The Museum in the Palais is part of the Universalmuseum Joanneum and is located on Sackstraße. It contains treasures from the Cultural History Collection as well as a special baroque interior of the Palais Herberstein. Many of the objects have historical connections to Styria or Graz. The first two floors host temporary exhibitions, such as "Warenhaus im Museum" from May 15 to November 3, 2013. This exhibition was created in cooperation with the department store Kastner & Öhler to celebrate its 100th anniversary. On the second floor, there is a permanent exhibition called "Statussymbole" (status symbols) presented in a circular route. Users of electric wheelchairs should be cautious: near the end of the exhibition, there is an obstacle. The corridor turns a corner and is too narrow to pass through. However, the exhibition can be fully viewed from the other side. Accessibility: A ground-level entrance from Sackstraße leads to the cashier area. The upper floors are accessible without steps via the large gate entrance with a red carpet. Caution is advised when walking on the red carpet, as it is slightly wobbly due to its substructure. An accessible lift is available, coat lockers are at the required height, and accessible toilets are located on the first and second floors.
