Museum im alten Zeughaus

Bad Radkersburg, Styria

ausstellungmuseumstour

Tour through the Museum Beginning with prehistoric and early historical traces of settlement, a total of twelve exhibition rooms on approximately 500 square meters show the eventful history of the origin and development of the city of Bad Radkersburg: its economic and cultural flourishing as a trading center and fortress city from the late 13th to the early 16th century, its subsequent decline in the 17th and 18th centuries due to armed conflicts, religious conflicts and catastrophes such as the plague, the two World Wars in the first half of the 20th century, which had serious consequences for the city, and finally its development into today's important spa and tourist resort. The basis of the presentation is the house's art and cultural-historical collection, which includes, among other things, one of the largest closed collections of guild chests in Europe and a series of prehistoric and early historical finds. The objects are presented to visitors in a staged exhibition. In addition to the permanent exhibition, one to two special exhibitions are held annually in the rear part of the building.
